Wave of Light

October was established as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.

Since that declaration, October 15th is known as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day and something that’s done on that day to honor babies lost all over the world is called, WAVE OF LIGHT.

On October 15th at 7:00pm in every time zone (based on where you’re located), you light a candle and can share a photo of that candle on social media using the hashtag #WAVEOFLIGHT where then you can see thousands of photos of candles that represent babies that are missing from families.

This year, The Miscarriage Doula is hosting a FREE event for Wave of Light where you can submit your babies name (or identifying information such as your last name, dates, etc) and we’ll read it live on a zoom call that’s recorded and uploaded to our website so you can hear your baby acknowledged for the world.

You and the babies you’ve sadly lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death deserve to be seen and acknowledged.

At 7:00pm EST, please click on the zoom link below to join us live!

Here’s How It Works

Submit your information below! We’ll need your name, email address (so we can send you the zoom link) and the identifying information about your baby (or babies). For example, I’ve had two miscarriages and didn’t name either baby so I would put “two babies; Cartrette” — however you put it, is how we will say it! You can share their due dates, the dates they died, their first or last name, and how many babies are missing for your family. If you have a name that is commonly mispronounced, feel free to add some helpful pronunciation to your message.

You’ll receive an email on October 15th with the zoom link for the event! It will be live on October 15th at 7:00pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME (the time zone is important) and the recording link will be emailed to you as well.
